Cozumel Tarpon Fishing

Tarpon fishing

Cozumel´s Tarpons are often hard to find, as they usually hide in the far reaches of the mangroves and shaded areas. Tarpons will usually eat flies and explode-react on them with fast and impredictive moves that will make you fly fishing trip in Cozumel a day to remember for years.

Cozumel´s Tarpon Fishing prime season is usually during the months of May, June and July; when we get to spot 8 to 20 pounds species as they hit Cozumel Flats in their migratory journey. However, it´s common to see small tarpons in Cozumel all-year-around, while targeting for Bonefish.

On Cozumel Flats, we say you got no game until you learn how to recognize and respond to a bite. Althought, we are familiar with Bonefish bites (trust us, we get them all year around), Cozumel´s Tarpon bites are often announced with an easily read flashing side and occasional huge boil.

Tarpon come to Cozumel´s Lagoons from the waters of the Gulf of Mexico at the tip point of Yucatan Peninsula, where Tarpon is abundant just like Bonefish in Cozumel.

Let our Guides take you on a Journey after Tarpon, and experience the crazy tailing and acrobatic moves as you hook on a Tarpon in the flats of Cozumel!
