Frequently Asked Questions

What fish is available when I come down to Cozumel?

We specialize in fly and spin fishing in the flats, and we mainly target Bonefish all year around. However, there are other species we can target during some months of the year. For specific information about the species available, please see our Cozumel Flats Fishing season section.

Where do you fish in Cozumel?

We go to the Northern Flats of Cozumel to fly and spin fishing. In the flats area, there are 3 lagoons; Rio de la Plata lagoon, Paso Balem lagoon, and Monte Cristo lagoon.

What do I need to bring on my Fishing Trip?

We suggest you to bring polarized sunglasses, lon-sleeve shirt, long pants, wading shoes, etc. We'll provide all light tackle and flies you will use to cast the flats in Cozumel. We use Orvis tackle, and it's in excellent conditions.

But, I prefer to bring my own tackle. What works best in Cozumel flats?

We suggest you to look at our Tackle and Flies suggestions section for detail information about tackle, flies, and lures that work best by fish we target.

Where do you guys meet for the fly fishing trip?

Our meeting point is in the heart of downtown at the Local Church "San Miguel" in the main Plaza. No worries, you won't get lost. Cozumel is a very small Island, and there's only one Church in Downtown Plaza. We'll be waiting for you with a sign with your name on it, and if you are a fisherman you will spot the fisherman waiting for you. just kidding.

I'm coming on a Cruise Ship. How do I get to your Meeting Point?

Easy cake. Just grab a taxi at the Cruise Pier and ask the taxi driver to take you to the "San Miguel Church" in Downtown Plaza. The distance is about 1.5 mile and the ride should take less than 5 minutes.

I'm staying in Playa del Carmen (Mayan Riviera Area) or Cancun Area. How do I get there?

If you are coming to Cozumel from Playa del Carmen (Mayan Riviera area), just go to the Ferry Pier in Playa del Carmen, and take the Ferry to cross over to Cozumel. The ferries run every hour, and the ride takes about 35 minutes. Once you get here in Cozumel, just walk outside the Ferry Pier, and cross the street towards inside the Plaza, then walk straight 2 blocks and the "San Miguel Church" is right there.

If you are coming from Cancun, please take a taxi or Bus from Cancun to Playa del Carmen. The ride from Cancun to Playa del Carmen takes about 45 minutes. Once in Playa del Carmen, just go to the Ferry Pier to cross over to Cozumel. The ferries run every hour, and the ride takes about 35 minutes. Once you get here in Cozumel, just walk outside the Ferry Pier, and cross the street towards inside the Plaza, then walk straight 2 blocks and the "San Miguel Church" is right there.

How much actual fishing time do I get from my trip?

You get the fishing time you booked for. The transportation time (car and panga travel time) is not considered in the fishing time you get. So, if you booked a 4 hours Fishing Trip, your total trip time will be around 5 hours.

I'm coming on a Cruise. For how many hours should I book my trip?

This is up to your Cruise's scheduled port time in Cozumel. The average rule is either 4 hours or 6 hours Trip.
